themes in frankenstein

Mary Shelley's 1818 novel engages many issues that are still central to us today at the beginning of the twenty-first century, including the ethics of creation, the relations of bodies and identities, and the relations of science to domesticity and motherhood. The contributors to the Frankenstein Project have written three essays that explore these issues in depth, charting their development in Shelley's novel and discussing their relationship to today's world.
